Intelligence (or information activity) is a way of gathering and analyzing information to support decisions and strategies.

All countries employ intelligence (in particular Open Source Intelligence, OSINT) for the activities of defence and Homeland Security, but it has also become an essential element and a critical success factor for the corporate world.

The pursued goals and the threats to be faced tend to be diversified, but for both the problem is the same: having to examine large volumes of ever-changing data, in order to find useful clues at the right moment. Such clues are contained in texts, conversations, news, email, web pages etc, i.e. unstructured information, more difficult to manage compared to data organized in a database.

Cogito Intelligence Platform is the Expert System suite that applies semantic analysis to support analysts and knowledge workers in all the phases of the intelligence process: establishing policies, acquisition, selection, ranking, exploitation, evaluation, validation, dissemination.

Cogito Intelligence Platform can process structured and unstructured data as well, acquired through HUMINT (HUMan INTelligence), IMINT (IMagery INTelligence), MASINT (MeAsurement and Signature INTelligence), COMINT (COMmunication INTelligence), ELINT (ELectronic INTelligence), SIGINT (SIGnal INTelligence) and OSINT (Open Source INTelligence).
