Intelligence

What is intelligence?

The word intelligence is understood to mean the clever, insightful use of information.

The Latin origin clarifies its expressive intensity: intellego, which means “I realize, understand and perceive”.

Thus, intelligence supports decision-making.

Intelligence is analyzed data and provides insight into the “why” and the “what happens next” aspects of good decision-making.

Who does intelligence?

The practice of intelligence has always existed.

Since the appearance of the first organized communities, activities to seek and understand information about the world around them have become important to prevent assaults and plan expansions.

Nowadays intelligence involves also the corporate world, not only the military field and national security.

What is intelligence for?

There are many reasons to adopt specific strategies for the collection and analysis of information into an intelligence process: global markets, aggressive competition, sophisticated consumers, speculative finance, disruptive technologies, opportunities and risks related to emerging markets, among many others.

While intelligence has become a crucial element for national security, increasingly this means not just homeland security but also in business and economic so that both can operate with increased awareness toward the fulfilment of strategic goals.
